FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How do I store my custom knife?
Steel will tarnish and can rust when exposed to blood over long periods. To clean, use a soft cloth or soft bristle brush to scrub as abrasive pads will scratch the surfaces. Always hand wash your knife with dish detergent, rinse well, and dry. Store your knife with the sheath, but not in it. The chemicals used in the tanning of leather can react with moisture in the air leading to rusting or staining. The knife blade needs to breathe and stay dry while stored. Natural handles will benefit from a light coating of furniture wax and hand polishing. Do not leave your knife and sheath in direct sun for extended periods. Ultraviolet light oxidizes and bleaches handle materials and leather. The weakest part of your knife is the tip, which happens to be the most abused part! Take care of the point, and the rest of the blade will follow. Never use knives to pry or dig. Get a pry bar, shovel, or ax if prying is required. Keep your knife sharp. Sharp knives are safe knives! Most accidents occur when dull knives are pushed too hard.
